The Holmes County Fair Board will have an official meeting to discuss the dissolution of the Holmes County Fair. Public Notice : Meeting at the fair grounds on Friday September 6, 2013.  There will be a public hearing from 5:30 – 6:00 p.m. and a Fair Board meeting from 6:00 – 6:30 the same evening.

Local Information:

Holmes County is Florida's 27th county, established on January 8, 1848, from

segments of Walton County and Jackson County. It gains its name from Holmes

Creek, which serves as the eastern boundary of the county. Bonifay is the county

seat. Holmes county includes the towns of Bonifay, Esto, Noma, Ponce De Leon

and Westville.

Holmes County Receives Safety Award - June 2012

  

Holmes County was recently presented with the “Best Overall Safety Performance Award for 2012” from Public Risk Management.  Sherry Snell, Administrative Assistant/Insurance & Safety Coordinator, accepted the award at a recent conference that she attended on behalf of the County.

 The award is for the Preferred Member who has shown an overall decrease in frequency and severity of claims for all lines of insurance coverage for the last three years. Members must utilize all PRM Loss Prevention Services and participate in Drug Free Workplace and Workplace Safety Credit Programs to be eligible. Holmes County won the award competing with 47 other counties and cities. 

This is the second year in a row that Holmes County has received a safety award, last year they received the Most Improved Safety Performance award. Holmes County Receives Safety Award - June 2011

The Holmes County Board of Commissioners was presented the Award of Excellence for having the Most Improved Workplace Safety Performance for entities of 100 to 200 Employees. The award was for preferred members who have shown a decrease in frequency and severity of claims, receive Workplace Safety Credit and have active loss prevention programs utilizing PRM LP services and programs. The award was from their Insurance Company, Public Risk Management of Florida who handles all the workers compensation and property and casualty claims.

 

Administrative Assistant & County Insurance Coordinator, Sherry Snell, initiated the Safety Program by forming a committee two years ago. The committee has worked diligently to get the safety program operating and after two years of hard work and monthly training it has made a tremendous impact on claims therefore resulting in this recognition. Special thanks to the County Commissioners for supporting the work that the safety committee has done and will continue to do.
